Asana Practice and Technique - for some of you this training will be first and foremost an augmentation of your existing practice.  Expect to dive deep into Asana, Pranayama and Meditation.

Teaching Deconstruction and Methodology - Even if you don’t want to be a teacher, it is very helpful to know more about WHY we do the things we do in a Yoga class.  Expect to learn in-depth sequencing principles, proper alignment, intelligent languaging, rhythm, and a myriad of insightful teaching methodology.

Sequencing Methodology - Yoga Method sequencing is inspired by the alignment and precision of Iyengar and the fluid nature of Vinyasa.  Learn how to curate creative and intelligent sequences; how to teach beginners, the art of managing an all-level class, and how to keep your students safe.

Poses and Posture - Alignment in your yoga practice will inform alignment in your everyday life. Isolating and dissecting individual poses; how they relate to other postures, and how they relate to YOU, will be a daily endeavour.

Anatomy and Physiology - Expect a practical and in-depth exploration of the muscles, bones, fascia, and organs that make up YOUR body, and learn how to differentiate them from other bodies in the room. With this understanding, we will harness the skills of teaching to specific body-types.

Skillful Adjustments - In addition to developing a keen and observant eye and clear languaging, manual assists are an important part of teaching people how to move and align their bodies.  Teacher training is a comfortable and safe environment where this skill-set can be strengthened.  It is also such a great way to learn about individual poses and how to practice them properly. The power of touch is extremely impactful.

Applied Yoga Mechanics - learn in which ways to counter and maintain the wear and tear of a consistent Yoga practice, through curated exercises particular to your body-type.  Become aware of how to repair common Yoga injuries and how to build specific strength to avoid them.

Practicum - You will have plenty of opportunities to practice your teaching skills. You will also spend time observing your peers teaching, which is a huge part of the learning process. Giving and receiving feedback is one of the best ways to find an analytical mind-set, both as a teacher and a student.

Yoga Philosophy - We will focus principally on the Yoga Sutras and The Heart of Yoga, on content applicable to asana practice and everyday life.

The Business of Yoga - You will leave this training with coaching on where to begin your journey as a teacher.
